"Inherited treasures of Prabhu Mahavira's teaching"
The religious reign of Lord Mahavira, which has been in place for the past 2500 years, shall continue unabated for the next 18000 years.
One of the very important foundation of the teachings of Lord Mahavirais Shruta Dharma {Knowledge}.
After attaining omniscience, Tirthankara Mahavira accepted 11 brahmins as his chief disciples (Ganadharas). Thanks to the sublime teaching of
Lord Mahavira, the 11 ganadharas accomplished such knowledge that within the next 48 minutes, they had composed the vast ocean of scriptures. These scriptures are known as "Aagama".
For centuries, these Aagamas were passed on through oral tradition. Approximately 1000 years after the nirvana of Lord Mahavira,
the Aagamas were composed on palm leaves. As time moved on, Jain Aagamas were printed and digitised.
This tradition of the Aagamas gave birth to scholars who not only read and understood the scriptures but
also composed fresh texts of their own, based on the teachings of the Jinas. Among them, the names which can be written in golden letters are
P.P. Nyayvisharad Acharyadev shri Bhuvanabhanu suriswarji Maharaja and
P. P. Sidhantdivakar,
Suvishal Gachchadhipati Acharyadev shri Jayghosh suriswarji Maharaja .
When the Agamas were first written, they were written in Prakrit, which was then the language of the common man. The abovementioned
two great authors have composed brilliant works in Gujarati, a common language today, which gives glimpse of Aagamas.
Jainonline is committed to make the magnificent teachings of Lord Mahavira available to the common man, especially the young generation, using today's technology.
We pray to Lord Mahavira that Jainonline shall be able to fulfil its noble objective and serve the cause of the Aagamas.
