Once Guru Sudharma swami gave diksha to a woodcutter. The people of Rajgruhi city started criticizing that woodcutter: he used to beg for food and shelter, so the poor fellow took diksha and became the guru of baniyas!
Due to such talks, Guru Sudharma swami started preparing to leave Rajgruhi. Mahamantri Abhaykumar requested: 'Guruvare! Give me a day's time. I shall make everyone understand that diksha is not easy.'
Abhaykumar placed three trays filled with gold coins in the central square of Rajgruhi city and told people: 'These are free to give. But there are 3 conditions: (1) One who does not use unboiled water throughout life, (2) Does not touch a woman and (3) Does not use fire, to him these gold coins freely available!
With such a condition, then who will take the gold coins?
Then Abhaykumar said: That woodcutter, whom you criticize that he took diksha because he had no food and shelter has accepted the rule of following the above three conditions throughout life, yet he has not come to take these gold coins. He is the real Jain sadhu!
