Know the karma, Conquer the karma.3.0
(5) Karma: Ayushya
The ending of one life cycle is death, and the beginning of a new life cycle is birth. The existence of life, characterized by birth and death due to karma, causes a soul to wander from one life cycle to another, and this existence is referred to as karmic life.
Attribute: Eternal State
A soul does not experience birth or death; it is 'immortal.' The state without birth and death is called the 'Akshay Sthiti - eternal state.' Karmic life obscures this eternal state.
What does this karma look like?
It is like a handcuff.
Just as a criminal is caught by the police, punished by the court, and kept in jail for the number of years of their sentence, similarly, the cycle of karmas keeps the soul bound in the body resembling a jail. For example, the lifespan of this life is such that a person must remain in the body until their destined years are complete. Once this ayushya karma is accomplished, the soul transitions to another state, where the karmas of that state keep the soul confined in its body.
When the complete destruction of ayushya karma occurs, the soul gains liberation from the body, which is referred to as moksh (liberation).
The soul binds karmas in following ways:
Extreme non-violence, excessive greed, meat-eating, terrible anger, killing of panchendriya jeev, mithyatva...- **Narak Karma
Illusion, deceit, failure to atone for sins, speaking against the will of prabhu.- **Tiryanch Karma**:
Charity, compassion, minimal worldly attachment, simplicity, interest in dev, guru, and dharma, humility. - **Manushya Karma**:
Samyaktva, deshvirti, satsang, listening to spiritual teachings, desireless penance, austerity. - **Dev Karma**:
(6) Karma: Naam
The karma through which a living being is endowed with different types of bodies, senses, characteristics, good or bad qualities, etc., are referred to as "naam karma."
Quality: Formlessness
The soul is not bound by body, shape, or sound; it is formless. This ‘formlessness’ quality gets obscured by Naam karma.
What is this karma like?
Like that of a Painter!
Just as a painter applies colors to a canvas, creating some individuals as beautiful, others as unattractive, some as bodybuilders, and others as slim—some light-skinned and others dark-skinned, some as kings and others as beggars—similarly, Naam karma shapes the living being into good or bad bodies, senses, and appearances, creating merchants or servants.
Good Naam karma gives you a good body, and so on. Bad Naam karma results in a poor body, etc.
The soul binds this karma in following ways:
Maya (illusion), deception, gossip, unwholesomeness, mutilation of a living being (like cutting off its nose, ears, or legs), harsh speech, breaking idols, etc., lead to bad naam karma.
Simplicity, fear of worldly sins, forgiveness, humility, the sight and devotion towards righteous individuals, and regarding religion positively contribute to good naam karma.
