SUTRA SECRET
Panchindiya Sutra
तह नवविह बंभचेर गुत्तिधरो :
तह = and, नवविह = Nine Kinds of, बंभचेर = Celibacy (Brahmcharya’s), गुत्ति = Gupti-Vaad or boundry, धरो = beholder of it.
Brahm means auspicious action, and charya means conduct.
To practice auspicious actions is Brahmacharya.
While performing these auspicious actions, staying away from anything that distracts our mind is also Brahmacharya. Just as a farmer grows crops in the field, if he does not fence the field, any animal can enter and eat the crops. Therefore, a thorny fence is made around the field. Similarly, our religious practices are like crops. If we do not protect them with the fence of rules, many inauspicious thoughts can spoil our auspicious actions. To prevent this, our Tirthankar parmatma has shown the rules and boundaries.
