2550 વર્ષ પહેલાંની વાત છે.

પરમાત્મા મહાવીર સ્વામીને કેવલજ્ઞાનની પ્રાપ્તિ થઈ ગઈ છે.

કેલવજ્ઞાન એટલે શું. ખબર છે તમને? જે જ્ઞાનથી ત્રણે ય લોક અને અને અલોક એક સાથે જોઈ શકાય તેને ‘કેવલજ્ઞાન’ કહેવાય.

પરમાત્મા મહાવીર સ્વામીના કેવલજ્ઞાન કલ્યાણકની ઉજવણી કરવા દેવલોકમાંથી દેવેન્દ્રો અને મનુષ્યલોકમાંથી નરેન્દ્રો પણ આવ્યા છે.

કેલવજ્ઞાન કલ્યાણક પછીના બીજા દિવસની ઘટના છે. તે દિવસ હતો : વૈશાખ સુદ-11નો. અને સ્થળ છે : પાવાપૂરીનું.

સવારનો સમય છે. દેવોએ પરમાત્મા મહાવીર સ્વામીની દેશના માટે સમવસરણની રચના કરી છે.

3 ગઢના સમવસરણમાં નીચેનો ગઢ ચાંદીનો છે. વચ્ચેનો ગઢ સોનાનો છે અને જે ગઢમાં પરમાત્મા મહાવીર સ્વામી બિરાજમાન થયા છે તે ગઢ રત્નોનો બનેલો છે.

અશોકવૃક્ષની નીચે સિંહાસન પર બિરાજેલા પરમાત્મા મહાવીર સ્વામી દેશના ફરમાવી રહ્યા છે.

આ બાજુ,

જ્યાં સમવસરણ છે ત્યાંથી થોડેક દૂર કેટલાક બ્રાહ્મણ પંડિતો ભેગા થયા છે અને હોમ-હવન કરી રહ્યા છે.

ત્યારે આકાશમાંથી નીચે આવતા દેવોને જોઈ એક પંડિત કહે છે : ‘જુઓ, જુઓ આપણા આ યજ્ઞનો કેવો પ્રભાવ છે કે દેવો પણ નીચે આવી રહ્યા છે.’

પરંતુ, હજી તો આ બડાશ હાંકવાની પૂરી થાય તે પહેલાં તો દેવો આગળ જવા લાગ્યા.

આ પંડિતને આંચકો લાગ્યો ને જોરથી બોલ્યો : ‘અરે, તમે ભૂલા પડ્યા લાગો છો. યજ્ઞ તો અહીંયા ચાલે છે ને તમે આગળ ક્યાં જાવ છો? ડેસ્ટીનેશન ભૂલી ગયા કે શું?’

દેવ કહે : ‘ના, ના. અમે તમારા યજ્ઞ માટે નથી આવ્યા.’

આઘાત સાથે પંડિતો પૂછે છે : ‘તો કોના માટે આવ્યા છો?’ ‘લો તમને ખબર નથી? જૈનોના 24મા તીર્થંકર પરમાત્મા મહાવીર સ્વામીને કેવલજ્ઞાન થયું છે. તેમની દેશના સાંભળવા અને તેમની સેવા કરવા અમે જઈએ છીએ.’ દેવે જવાબ આપ્યો.

આ પંડિત કહે છે : ‘મૂરખાઓ છો તમે. સાચો ધર્મ તો અમે અહીં કરીએ છીએ. આ વળી મહાવીર નામનો નવો ધૂતારો કોણ આવ્યો છે? જે તમારા જેવા દેવોને પણ ઉલ્લુ બનાવી જાય છે!’

દેવને તો ઉતાવળ થતી હતી, ભગવાન પાસે જવાની. તેથી તે તો આ પંડિતને જવાબ આપ્યા વિના જ જતો રહ્યો.

પણ અહીંયા તો આ પંડિતનો અહંકાર છંછેડાયો : ‘આવું કેવી રીતે ચાલે? સાચો સર્વજ્ઞ તો હું છું. હું જઈને જોઉં તો ખરો કે તે મહાવીર છે કોણ? બસ હમણાં જ તેની પાસે જાઉં. તેની સાથે વાદ (ડિબેટ) કરું. તેને હરાવી દઉં અને મારી જાતને સર્વજ્ઞ સાબિત કરી દઉં.’

500 ચેલાઓની સાથે આ પંડિત ભગવાન મહાવીર સ્વામી સાથે વાદ કરવા ને તેમને હરાવી દેવાની ડંફાસ મારતો જાય છે.

આ પંડિત કોણ છે? જે ભગવાનને પણ ઓળખતો નથી અને તેમને હરાવવાની ઇચ્છા રાખે છે?

‘અરિહંત’ એટલે કોણ?

અરિ = શત્રુ

હંત = હણનાર.

જે શત્રુઓનો નાશ કરે તે અરિહંત.

તો બાળકો! આપણને પ્રશ્ર્ન ન થાય કે,

ચક્રવર્તીને અરિહંત ના કહેવાય?

કારણ કે તેણે છ ખંડના બધા જ શત્રુઓને હરાવી દીધા છે.

વિશ્ર્વ વિજેતા નેપોલિયન અને સિકંદરને અરિહંત ના કહેવાય?

કારણ કે તેઓએ આખી દુનિયાના શત્રુઓને જીત્યા હતા.

બ્રિટનના પ્રાઇમ મિનિસ્ટરને અરિહંત ના કહેવાય?

કારણ કે તેઓ એક સમયે અમેરિકા ને ભારત જેવા દેશોના સમ્રાટ હતા. ……….. દેશો તેમના ગુલામ હતા.

વર્લ્ડકપની વિજેતા ટીમને અરિહંત ના કહેવાય?

કારણ કે તેમણે પણ પોતાની બધી જ હરીફ ટીમને હરાવી દીધી છે.

કારણ કે એક વાર જીત્યા પછી ફરી પણ ક્યારેક હાર થવાની હોય તો તે સાચી જીત નથી.

એક વખતની વર્લ્ડકપ વિજેતા ટીમ શું હંમેશા વર્લ્ડકપ જીતે જ છે? ના, હારી જાય છે.

અને, ચક્રવર્તી જેવો ચક્રવર્તી પણ છેવટે મોત સામે તો હારી જ જાય છે અને મરવાની ઇચ્છા ન હોવા છતાં ય તેને મરવું જ પડે છે.

તો આપણો સાચો શત્રુ કયો?

આપણી સાચી જીત કઈ? જે જીતી લીધા પછી ક્યારેય હારવું જ ન પડે.

પરમાત્મા મહાવીર સ્વામીએ એવા તે કયા શત્રુ પર વિજય મેળવ્યો કે જેથી તેઓ ‘અરિહંત = શત્રુ વિજેતા’ કહેવાય?
